Ciprian Cerbu – Artists Statement

In my paintings I search for a moment. A fleeting moment, just as a photographer would. But the “moment” in my paintings is not caugh, like in a photograph, it’s built from pieces, constructed, and the image itself that makes the moment. It’s also the colour and the brush strokes, how they flow, how they suddenly stop and how they are blending into each other. It’s also the selection of those pieces, those frames of reality set on a constructivest and sometimes mystical background.

I like combining real life and recognizable shapes with fade out non-real objects, achieving a particular atmosphere and mood beyond the image itself.
